The moment we reached home. I saw my mother preparing for Yukti's first welcome. After all she is going to stay with us for a complete week. And my mumma is none the less excited to meet her.
You must have been feeling it weird but yes families like mine do exist in India. Yes, it took her quite a time to accept but, ever since she did I often find mumma filled with more joy whenever it comes about Ice cream.
With flower showers she was welcomed and I was giggling asking thin air to put a coconut in a Lota filled with rice so that she could kick one.
She didn't waited for a moment and kicked me right at my knees forcing me to get goaled inside at once as if a footballer makes one shot victory right from the mid-line. This was followed by my mother bursting in her loudest laughter.
It was evening by now and both of them have been just talking over so many thing that they even forget to cook for me and I had to order stuffs from far. Anyways, I love it when she keeps my mumma busy.
You know what was the funniest thing that day? It was late night, Mumma and Icecream were set to bed but Yukti was texting me and mumma get a little annoyed with this and she asked her to find me in my room listening to which she flipped her phone and asked mumma to join for a Ludo game where we all three played unless my mother defeated both of us ten times in a streak.
As planned last night both of us were up for cooking together. I asked her to set the room such that mumma rests for an extra hour. She fixes the clock and curtains and we giggle looking at each other.
She was making Parathas meanwhile I readied the desert for microwave.
With a tone loaded with sugar
''You are like my parathas. ''
'' Hard and tough to digest? '' I tried to compliment.
''Very funny! Brown and Disk like. ''
I was about to cry at this ''My tummy has got so sad. Your love would certainly spoil this little child.''
'' Oooww Gulullulu child! '' pointing at my stomach with a belaan in her hand. ''
She takes some floor from the container and puts it on my face. '' Heyy!. ''
''Owww my Paratha looks like a Roti now''
This was the end of my limits, I moved forward and hugged her. Listening to her heavily breathing, I loosen my grip but she tightens it back and we stay like that for some five minutes until the unlock of mumma's door was heard.
''Where is this burning smell coming from? ''
Opps! We just over cooked the veggies. 😶
I need a break I have gotta run.
